EastEnders star Danny Dyer is encouraging the government government to give proper recognition to 'Pie'n'Mash.'
In a new campaign directed at Steve Barclay, DEFRA Secretary of State, the Mick Carter 46-year-old actor is featured on a war poster with the caption: 'Your Pie'n'Mash needs YOU.'
Campaign creator Andy Green declared: 'It’s time to proudly celebrate our traditional food, which is a significant part of London culture.'
The statement continued: 'Pie'n'Mash has a rich history and should have the same standing as other traditional foods like Cornish Pasties or Bramley apple pies, by receiving Protected Status.'
Danny has previously expressed his love for the dish, so using a photo of him was a fitting choice.

Danny's character, Mick Carter, disappeared at sea on Christmas Day 2022 and is presumed dead after almost ten years of intense storylines. His character, Mick, discovered that his sister Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) was actually his mother, got married, and went through various family drama.
In addition to family issues, Mick had to cope with Linda's alcoholism and also had to come to terms with being abused as a child before confronting his abuser in court. (Danny's new TV role is a departure from his previous character, as he makes his comedy debut in the series Mr Bigstuff, playing the character Lee.Mr Bigstuff is a relatable comedy that delves into family dynamics, brotherhood, manhood and carpet sales.
Lee and Glen are estranged brothers and have very different personalities. ‘Your Pie’n’Mash needs YOU.’, as well as coming to terms with the fact that he had been abused as a child before speaking up in court against abuser Katy Harris.
Danny’s new role is worlds away from pub landlord Mick, as he makes his TV comedy debut in the Sky Original series Mr Bigstuff, playing the role of Lee.
Mr Bigstuff is a relatable comedy created by Ryan Sampson, who also stars as Lee’s brother Glen, that explores broken families, brotherhood, manhood and carpet sales.
Lee and Glen are estranged brothers and couldn’t be more different.
