A man has been discovered deceased in a park in Staffordshire, and a woman has been apprehended on suspicion of committing murder.
The body of the man, who was in his 50s, was found in Queen Elizabeth Park in Newcastle-under-Lyme early this morning.
Officers detained a woman, from the market town about two miles northwest of Stoke-on-Trent, following the deadly assault.
Police are still present at the site of Silverdale Road, a residential street that extends from the park to the main High Street, StokeOnTrent Live reported.
‘Just before 7.45am we were called to Queen Elizabeth Park, on Silverdale Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme, following reports a body had been found. Sadly, the body of a man in his 50s was found at the scene,’ police said.
‘A 30-year-old woman, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Officers remain at the scene.
