Six percent of the work force could be eliminated in the next five years, and replaced by artificial intelligence.
A new report from marketing research agency Forrester suggests that expanded cognitive capabilities will make chat bots and other such programs effective at everything from automating secretarial duties to assisting with customer service. Meanwhile things like self-driving car technology will begin to eat away at the transportation industry’s job numbers.
Skeptics (like myself) will point out that just because the technology will be there, doesn’t mean it will be immediately implemented. Still, it might be a cause of concern for people in fields more easily replaced by automated services.
