Rumours of the new model Nikon digital SLR have been circulating for quite some time now, but a mere few hours before the anticipated official unveiling, The British Journal of Photography released an article that gave up the details on the DS3s.
Before reading on, be aware that the D3s body is slated to fall into a £4,200 price point, which converts to around $7,000 Australian. If the price didn’t stump you, then you may be pleased to hear that the price includes a seven-stop ISO range of 200 to 12,800, with three other boost settings that allow images to be captured at an ISO equivalent of 102,400. HD movies can be captured in 720p, with the elusive digital SLR 1080p video capture capacity seemingly absent from the D3s.
1080p gripes aside, the D3s can capture 1280×720 resolution footage at 24 frames per second that can then be trimmed on the camera itself. Better yet, most of the digital SLR’s still-shooting functionality can also be used for capturing high-definition video. D3s users will also have access to 9fps continuous shooting, 51-point autofocus functionality as well as improved shooting capabilities in lowlight situations.
