The body of a Thai woman, thought to have been killed, was found on Friday in a forested area in Keelung, a city on the northeastern coast of Taiwan.
As per a TVBS report, the victim messaged her boyfriend for help using her cell phone. The boyfriend and his friends located the area from which the message was sent and found her body in a deep, forested area on a mountain. They notified the local police.
Authorities found a cigarette butt at a public toilet around 300 meters from the woman's body. They believe that she and her attacker may have argued before she was stabbed multiple times and pushed into the 10-meter deep ravine.
According to recent reports from Taiwanese media, the police have already detained a suspect.
The victim’s aunt, Duangporn Changlek, shared with the media in Si That district of Udon Thani that her niece had obtained a three-month visa and gone to Taiwan to work at a traditional massage parlor. After her visa expired, she continued working there illegally due to the good pay, allowing her to send home 4,000-7,000 baht monthly for her children.
She also mentioned that her niece had recently informed her by phone that she had secured a new position as a domestic worker, but her employer was strict and hardly allowed her to rest. She suggested her to find a new job.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, Pong-ampai Koptemanee, revealed to the media that the day before she was told by her daughter’s friends that her daughter had taken her own life, she had spoken to her daughter. While shocked, she did not believe that her daughter was dead until she learned about it in the media.
