The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand has instructed Advance Info Service (AIS) to provide an explanation on Monday for the mobile phone service disruption that occurred on Friday evening.
NBTC Chairman Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck stated today that AIS, one of the two main mobile phone service providers in Thailand, must clarify the cause of the service disruption and compensate subscribers for their inability to use their phone and internet services yesterday.
He mentioned being impacted by the disruption as well, and cautioned that AIS could face punishment if it does not offer a clear and reasonable explanation for the incident.
Meanwhile, AIS has released a statement apologizing to the public for the disruption and pledging to compensate all affected subscribers. According to the statement, the company will send an SMS to all its customers, who are subscribed to the unlimited and other packages, by Monday, outlining the compensation they will receive.
