The grocery delivery company Instacart announced on Tuesday that it will now offer restaurant takeout as part of its services, according to a press release.
Instacart has teamed up with Uber Eats, the restaurant delivery app, for this new venture, as stated in the press release. In the coming weeks, Instacart customers across the country will be able to use the Instacart app to order from hundreds of thousands of restaurants through Uber Eats.”
Fidji Simo, CEO and chair of Instacart, stated in the release, “Through this partnership, Instacart customers now have access to both the best online grocery selection in the U.S. and restaurant delivery, making it even easier for them to conveniently tackle all their food needs from a single app.”
In the Instacart app, a new “‘Restaurants’” tab will be available for users to discover local restaurants, place orders, and track their deliveries, according to the release.
Customers who are subscribed to Instacart Plus, a service that costs $99 annually or $9.99 per month, will also receive free delivery on restaurant orders over $35.
“Our aim is to make it simple for people to access anything they want from anywhere,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, in the Instacart release. “We are thrilled about this new strategic partnership with Instacart, which will allow even more consumers to benefit from the convenience of Uber Eats, support restaurant businesses, and provide more earning opportunities for couriers.”
