Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) responded to a Fox News columnist who labeled her as “an idiot” attempting to “ruin the GOP.”
“The headline from Fox News was ‘Greene is an idiot.’ That's what they called me,” Greene stated said while speaking on Steve Bannon’s podcast this week. “But what I've done is uncover what was already occurring in secret.”
Greene was pointing to an opinion piece on Fox News.com that published last month, written by contributor Liz Peek, who claimed Greene is detrimental to the party, accusing her of “attention-seeking behavior for personal gain.”
“The party needs to stop its internal conflicts. If Marjorie Taylor Greene and others oppose aid to Ukraine or the FISA bill, they have the right to vote against it. That's how democracy functions,” wrote Peek, who also contributes on a regular basis to The Hill. “My message for MTG? Quoting Hillary Clinton: Stop focusing on yourself. Today's mission is to elect Donald Trump.”
Greene has stated her intent to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) due to various issues, including the framework of his proposal to consider foreign aid.
“The positive aspect is that Democrats need to be honest – they were already influencing Mike Johnson anyway,” Greene told Bannon about her attempts to remove Johnson.
