Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Thaksin Shinawatra had a meeting over lunch today at a hotel in central Bangkok, amid speculation about a possible cabinet reshuffle.
Srettha was joined by his deputy, Phumtham Wechayachai, and his secretary general, Prommin Lertsuridej.
Thaksin, who was released on parole from a prison sentence for three corruption convictions, is believed to be exerting influence in the current political environment.
Srettha is the successful prime ministerial candidate of the Pheu Thai party, which was established by Thaksin and is currently led by Thaksin’s youngest daughter, Paetongtarn.
It is noted that the individuals involved in today’s lunch are important figures who have long held Thaksin’s trust.
There are rumors that the lunch was scheduled because Srettha has finalized his list of changes and seeks approval from Thaksin.
There are speculations that the possible reshuffle may involve the removal of Public Health minister Cholnan Srikaew, Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang, and Agriculture minister Chaiya Promma.
