The gay conservative organization Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) of Los Angeles shared a meme on their Instagram stories that seemed to endorse the idea of President Joe Biden's death.
The meme, using the “Kombucha Girl” format, depicted a woman looking disgusted at the text “Joe Biden 2024,” referring to Biden’s campaign. Then, she looked interested when the text changed to “Joe Biden 1942-2024.” This implied that it would be a positive thing if he died this year as he was born in 1942.
The Meidas Touch Network captured the meme, but it is no longer available as it was on an Instagram story. Several anti-transgender posts remain in the LCR of LA’s feed.
LCR has been very clear about their support for Donald Trump in this election cycle, despite Trump’s very poor record and Biden’s strong record on LGBTQ+ issues. Earlier this month, the group held a fundraiser at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, which featured an appearance by Melania Trump.
One of the event's co-hosts described it as “the launch of the single most important and unprecedented gay and lesbian voter outreach initiative of any Republican presidential nominee in US political history.” He then referred to Trump as “the most pro-gay president in American history.”
Last year, the organization named Isabella Riley Moody – a rightwing troll who has called gay people “groomers,” supported Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” law, and declared “Heil Hitler” – as one of their “Outspoken Ambassadors for 2023.”
The Log Cabin Republicans later removed her from their website.
