NEWTOWN — In May, there will be musical tributes to famous artists, although some may not want to label 90s music as “classic” just yet.
The historic Newtown Theatre is hosting “The Janis Joplin Experience” with Lisa Polizzi on Thursday, May 2 at 8:00 p.m.
The idea for The Janis Joplin Experience came about when a promoter heard Polizzi singing a Janis song during a sound check and suggested she do a tribute to the renowned singer. Before long, she had her first booking.
Tickets can be purchased at TheNewtownTheatre.com for $42 per person or $37 for theatre members. If any tickets are left, they will be sold for $52 at the door on the night of the show.
The theatre is also featuring “90s Rockfest” with two bands playing the music of Stone Temple Pilots and Weezer on Friday, May 3 at 8:00 p.m.
Lounge Fly is the top tribute to Stone Temple Pilots, offering fans an authentic musical and visual experience that takes them back to the ‘90s. Opening the night will be the Weezer tribute band Hashpipe.
The 90s showcased some of the best music of the past 50 years, and ‘90s Rockfest will transport you back to the time when it all happened. Guitars and grit ruled the radio and MTV, and live shows were filled with energy. ‘90s Rockfest will bring you back to a time when rock was dominant and bands performed live and loud on stage.
