After having a few successful years that led to getting over $1 million in grants for the township, the Falls Supervisors decided on Monday to keep their yearly contract with a grant-writing company.
Falls Supervisor Vice Chairperson Erin Mullen mentioned that Millennium Strategies, LLC has assisted Falls in obtaining $1,077,693.33 in alternative governmental and nongovernmental grant funding since they started working with the township in 2020. Mullen stated, “they’re doing a good job.”
The Supervisors voted 3-0 in favor of continuing their work with the company. Supervisors Jeff Dence and Jeff Boraski were not present for Monday’s board meeting because they were at the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors annual educational conference.
Township Manager Matthew Takita stated that under the existing contract, Millennium Strategies will keep an eye on grant opportunities and explore options that township officials are interested in. At present, the company is assisting Falls in obtaining funding for road improvements, parks, and the new municipal building, Takita mentioned.
Supervisor John Palmer mentioned that the township had previously extended the grant service to the township’s volunteer fire companies.
Palmer said, “That should help them out tremendously.”
Falls started working with Millennium Strategies, LLC in 2020 following neighboring Middletown Township’s use of the company’s services, which resulted in over $10 million in grant funding over a 10-year period. In 2021, Millennium helped Falls secure a $756,881 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to fund pedestrian safety improvements at various intersections. An additional $55,029 was secured from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development – Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program for upgrades to the township’s roller hockey rink. The improved rink opened in summer 2022.
As part of the unchanged contract from last year, Millennium will keep a check on potential grant opportunities, prepare a strategic plan, and give monthly reports. The company would also offer project-based grant writing services at an hourly rate.
Apart from Falls and Middletown, Millennium Strategies offers grant writing services to over 90 municipalities, counties, school districts, and nonprofits in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Since its establishment in 2005, the company has secured over $600 million in both governmental and non-governmental grants for its clients.
Millennium has secured funding for various projects, such as arts and culture, economic development, open space preservation, parks and recreation, environmental planning and restoration, public safety, sustainable energy, historic preservation, as well as transportation-related projects.
