Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says he's worried about the high number of injuries in his team and mentions that he has only been able to select his 'favourite' team once since he joined the club.
The Red Devils have encountered three additional injuries this week before their FA Cup semi-final against Coventry.
Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount and Willy Kambwala are sidelined, joining players like Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof who are also out with injuries.
The FA Cup is United's final opportunity to salvage their season, as they are no longer in contention for Champions League qualification.
Ten Hag is facing a struggle to keep his position, but he states that he has not been able to field a fully fit team, except for the 2-1 win against Manchester City at Old Trafford in February 2023.
'In 18 months, I have never been able to field my preferred team because the players have been injured. This worries me,' said Ten Hag.
'In fact, one time against Man City last season in the home game – that was the only time we had a full squad when I could pick my team. In all the other games, there was always an injury aspect that we had to deal with. That's normal in football, but not as many as we have had.
'When you have so many injuries in crucial, key positions, you can't achieve the results you desire. That's my truth. Others may have different opinions, but I can't focus on that.'
'I know what we are doing here and why I am here – to win trophies and create economic value. We are working towards those goals.
'In the process, there are setbacks, and I look at this and can see it realistically and rationally. I am solely concentrating on my team – to enhance my team and individual players. That's my purpose here.'
