TJ Pikul felt confident on Saturday and decided it was his time to shine.
In the Players Cup championship, Duxbury avenged their loss to Reading with a convincing 15-5 win. Senior TJ Pikul scored four goals, and classmate Zach Falls scored four as well.
Falls expressed his satisfaction, saying that they remember the previous game vividly and that winning this tournament was important to show their strength as a team, regardless of the division of their opponents.
The Dragons (7-1) entered the game seeking payback.
Despite efforts to isolate Duxbury's star player, Reading couldn't stop them from scoring in the first half. Pikul scored three goals and Falls scored two, giving the Dragons a 7-3 lead at halftime.
Pikul chuckled as he mentioned feeling confident from the morning.
After halftime, the Dragons continued strong, extending their lead to 8-3. Pikul and Wien added goals, leading the Dragons to an 11-5 advantage going into the fourth quarter.
Pikul stated that their success came from the whole team doing the right things and putting in the work. He emphasized their great revenge with a 15-5 win over Reading, the team that beat them last year.
In the final quarter, the Dragons pulled away, scoring 4-0 and sealing the win.
Goodwin also scored three goals for Duxbury, and Hulett scored two.
Joey Casetlli scored two goals for Reading.
Duxbury coach Chris Sweet expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, emphasizing their great week and strong play on both ends of the field.
