Law enforcement has started an inquiry after a man and woman in their 70s were discovered deceased in a residence in Stoke.
The elderly couple’s remains were found after police were summoned to the home on Catalina Place, Meir Park, at 1pm on Saturday.
The road continues to be blocked off this evening.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police stated: ‘At this point, we are confident there is no broader danger or threat to the community. Their family are receiving support from specialized officers.’
The police announcement mentioned: ‘We are looking into the deaths of two individuals in Stoke-on-Trent.
‘We were called at 1pm this afternoon to a report that the bodies of a man and a woman had been found at a house on Catalina Place.
‘The man and woman, in their 70s, were both declared dead at 2.15pm.
‘An inquiry is being conducted to determine the circumstances of the incident.’
Authorities are asking for witnesses after today’s tragic event.
