Debra Winger, a well-known actress from the 1980s, appears completely different 44 years after playing a role in the successful movie Urban Cowboy.
At 68, the actress became famous for her roles in Hollywood hits like An Officer and a Gentleman and Terms of Endearment.
One of her most famous roles was in the 1980 romantic drama Urban Cowboy, where she portrayed the spirited love interest of John Travolta.
Debra received several award nominations for her performance in the movie, including a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and a Bafta for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles.
But she stepped out of the public eye in the mid-1990s and didn’t return to the big screen until six years after the release of 1995’s Forget Paris.
Recently, the 68-year-old appeared at the Drive Away Dolls premiere in New York.
Her curly hair is now naturally silver, and she wore a dark blazer with a blue blouse, loose dark pants, and chunky black boots.
She added a multicoloured check scarf as an accessory, and dark-rimmed glasses highlighted her bright blue eyes.
Accompanied by her 26-year-old son, Gideon Babe Ruth Howard, she posed with him for photos on the red carpet.
Even though she appears different from her movie days, she maintains a similar sense of style – including her thick, once-brunette curls, and minimal makeup.
During her time away from Hollywood, the actress worked as a lecturer at Harvard University and wrote a book about her decision to stop acting.
In the memoir, she explains how she chose to leave the movie industry to create a life beyond acting.
‘I love the work,’ she wrote. ‘And don’t much care for the business.’
In addition to her nominations for Urban Cowboy, the actress won a National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actress in 1984 and received Best Actress Oscar nominations for An Officer and a Gentleman, Terms of Endearment, and Shadowlands.
In 1996, Debra married writer/director Arliss Howard, whom she met on the set of the film Wilder Napalm. They have three children together – one from each of their previous marriages, and one son, Gideon, born in 1997.
Before marrying Arliss, Debra was married to actor Timothy Hutton, with whom she had her first son, Noah Hutton.
Winger’s career has experienced a revival in recent years, with her role as Maggie Bennett in the popular Netflix soap opera The Ranch.
Since returning to acting, she has also appeared in episodes of Law & Order, Mr. Corman, and In Treatment.
In 2014, she received the TIFF Award for Lifetime Achievement.
