A traffic police officer, who suffered serious injuries when struck by a car while directing traffic during Songkran, has had a second surgery on his skull. Though his response to the surgery is positive, he is still being closely monitored, according to doctors at the Police General Hospital.
Pol Col Bancha Thiwaissrakul, one of the treating doctors, mentioned today that the patient is still on life support, with a ventilator helping him to breathe.
While his vital signs have improved but are not stable yet, his neurological condition remains unchanged. He needs medication to boost blood pressure, and his kidney function is normal.
Another doctor, Pol Lt-Col Pancharat Preechaharn, stated that the patient's eyes have sustained serious damage, with blood in the left eye and the right requiring surgery, which has to wait until his neurological condition has improved following the operation on his skull.
Pol Lt-Gen Taweesilp Wechvitarn, the chief doctor at the hospital, mentioned that the patient's vital signs are improving, but doctors need to monitor closely for any brain swelling.
