The New York Police Department will give information to the public about a person self-immolating outside the Manhattan courthouse where former President Trump’s initial criminal trial is happening, according to police confirmed to The Hill.
The event, which happened in a park near the courthouse where demonstrations against the trial have occurred this week, attracted a significant emergency reaction. Ambulances filled the area where the person set themself on fire.
Videos of the incident shared on the social media platform X depicted at least one person trying to extinguish the fire with a suit jacket, before another person with a fire extinguisher extinguished the fire.
