Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman’s body at a high-end hotel in Surrey.
Authorities were alerted to the incident at the Pennyhill Park Hotel in Bagshot at 8.43am last Sunday.
An ambulance crew had previously found the woman’s body, who was in her 50s.
The arrested man is believed to have been acquainted with the victim, according to Surrey Police.
A spokesperson stated that a 60-year-old man from Devon has been apprehended on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.
It is thought that the victim and suspect knew each other.
Authorities are conducting an inquiry, with the assistance of Surrey Police and Sussex Police’s Major Crime Team, to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
Pennyhill Park Hotel has 124 rooms available to guests, with prices ranging from £470 to £1,270 per night.
The establishment also offers a spa, gym, and a Michelin-starred restaurant managed by head chef Steve Smith.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Debbie Birch expressed sympathy for the victim’s family during this challenging period.
The investigation is in its initial stages, and a specialized team of officers is diligently carrying out follow-up inquiries.
