Kerry Kennedy is reiterating her family’s decision to back President Biden in the upcoming election instead of her brother, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is running as an independent candidate for the White House.
“In my opinion, this is the most significant election of my life,” Kerry Kennedy told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
The Biden campaign is anticipating 15 members of the Kennedy family to publicly support the president Thursday at a campaign event in Philadelphia. The Kennedy family is in disagreement with RFK Jr. and his campaign, cautioning that his election would be “dangerous” for the country.
On “GMA,” Kerry Kennedy emphasized the importance of electing Biden, stating there is “no competition” when it comes to supporting the president. She commended Biden for “continuing the legacies” of her father, Robert F. Kennedy, and her uncle, former President John F. Kennedy.
“I believe the key point today is to elect Joe Biden. It’s a two-person race. There are only two individuals in this competition who can reach 270 electoral votes: Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Joe Biden stands for the middle class; Joe Biden has improved our economy. Under Joe Biden’s leadership, crime has decreased by 10 percent over the past few years,” she said.
“He is an exceptional leader. He cares deeply. He shares my family’s principles. We need every single person to go and vote for Joe Biden. If everyone who can vote goes out and votes, Joe Biden wins. And that’s our goal today,” she added.
Kerry Kennedy is expected to reiterate those statements in her endorsement of Biden later on Thursday.
“I can only imagine how Donald Trump’s shocking lies and conduct would have appalled my father, Robert F. Kennedy, who proudly served as attorney general of the United States and honored his commitment to uphold the law and protect the country,” Kerry Kennedy will say in her endorsement, according to excerpts provided by the Biden campaign.
