Simon & Schuster will release a new autobiography written by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) later this year.
In the bookEntitled “The Art of Power,” Pelosi discusses her time in public office, the laws she has contributed to as House Speaker, and her firsthand experience of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol and her interactions with former President Trump, among other stories.
The autobiography will be out on Aug. 6, according to the publisher.
The publisher Simon & Schuster stated, “The Art of Power” portrays the woman who has been praised by her adversaries as ‘the most powerful Speaker’ ever, explaining why she is unafraid of a challenge. It’s about her persistent fighting spirit and the important legacy it has created.”

Pelosi, 84, resigned from leadership last year, following two decades at the helm of the lower chamber. The move occurred after Republicans secured the majority in the 2022 midterm elections. She first won a seat in the House in 1986 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming minority leader in 2003 and subsequently Speaker in 2007. The California Democrat was the initial female to hold the esteemed position.
The California Democrat held the Speaker position until 2011, when Republicans gained control of the House. However, when Democrats regained the majority in 2019, she was once again sworn in as Speaker.
Based on the announcement, Pelosi remarked, “People always ask me how I achieved what I did in the House. In ‘The Art of Power,’ I unveil how — and more importantly, why.”
Pelosi released her first book, “Know Your Power,” in 2008, aiming to motivate young women to pursue their aspirations.
In her latest autobiography, the former Speaker also recounts a personal incident from 2022 when an intruder broke into her home in California and assaulted her husband, Paul Pelosi, with a hammer.
