Rio Ferdinand hailed Harry Kane for his calm penalty in Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash against Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s team led in the first leg of their quarter-final match at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening thanks to Bukayo Saka’s excellent goal in the 12th minute.
However, Bayern equalized six minutes later when Serge Gnabry scored after a swift move following a loose pass from Gabriel.
Thomas Tuchel’s team then took the lead after William Saliba fouled Leroy Sane following a superb run into the box from the former Manchester City winger.
Kane took the penalty and waited for David Raya to make his move before calmly placing the ball to the side of the Arsenal goalkeeper.
When analyzing the start of the move that led to Bayern’s penalty, Ferdinand said: ‘[Manuel] Neuer at that point there is taking the mickey at the Emirates, flicking it up with his left foot.’
Ferdinand was then impressed by Kane’s composed penalty as he sent Raya the wrong way with ease.
‘Harry Kane smoothly placed that in,’ Ferdinand said.
‘That’s like an Under-9s penalty, really unexpected, at the Emirates.’
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown added: ‘He’s [Kane] taking the Mickey, really.
‘I think the keeper [Raya] has looked a little bit panicky, a little bit rushed tonight.
‘Maybe he was again for the penalty. He dived so early for that.’
