Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA) is being ridiculed for speaking what many believe is the truth during a Monday town hall event.
Greene expressed her frustration that Republicans have not achieved what voters want when she said, “Actually, our Republican House majority has failed completely.”
This statement by Greene has become the subject of mockery, particularly because she has been causing a lot of chaos in the House recently.
Two weeks ago, she filed a surprise motion to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) because he allowed the House to vote on a $1.2 trillion government funding bill that included funding for “trans ideology,” as she described it. The bill, which mostly did not include her and other far-right Republicans’ desired anti-LGBTQ+ provisions, passed the House on March 22 in a 286 -134 vote. She has since continued to aggressively go after Johnson and has repeatedly accused him of being controlled by Democrats.
With only seven months until the general election in November, some Republicans are concerned that removing the Speaker will “further expose the chronic disarray in the House Republican Conference and the difficulty it has had in governing,” The Washington Post reported.
Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) said, for instance, “It’s not only idiotic, but it actually does not do anything to advance the conservative movement. And in fact, it undermines the country and our majority.”
Rep. Greg Pence (R-IN) said, “This isn’t good for the party. When I go home, people are tuning out what’s going on in the House because of the lack of progress, the chaos that’s happening. And I’d like us to get together and work together. We’re moving in the wrong direction of getting together.”
Naturally, the Internet has had a lot of fun with Greene’s comment, with many noting that she basically made an advertisement for President Joe Biden’s campaign.
