Congrats are in order for Lorraine Kelly’s daughter, who is expecting her first child!
Rosie Smith, 29, is Lorraine Kelly's only daughter and she is expecting her first child with her husband Steve Smith. ITV TV icon Lorraine Kelly, 64, is Rosie's mom.
Rosie announced her pregnancy on Friday (March 5) on social media with a photo of her growing belly.
On her Instagram post, Rosie said: ‘We are extremely excited – you’re already so loved little one 💕’.
In a photo of herself in a mirror, Rosie – a podcaster and writer – showed her changing body in all black clothing, while cradling her bump.
In another picture, she shared her 12-week ultrasound scan, where the baby was ‘the size of a fig’.
Expressing her excitement, Lorraine shared Rosie’s photo and wrote: ‘THE most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family! Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It’s the best news EVER!’
The mother and daughter received many heartfelt congratulatory messages.
Rosie Nixon commented: ‘The best news!!! So happy for you all – congrats @rosiekellysmith! ❤🙌😍’
‘OMG OMG’, exclaimed Michelle Visage, while Judi Love wrote: ‘Congratulations ❤️’
Lorraine regular Dr Amir Khan said: ‘OMG!!!! What beautiful news! Congratulations xx’
Rosie's partner also named Steve and they currently have a cute dog named Ruby, a mini wire-haired Dachshund.
Discussing having a famous mom, Rosie – whose podcast is called What If? – previously admitted that Lorraine wasn’t the reason she got into broadcasting.
She studied journalism at Edinburgh Napier University for four years, and later said: The Tab: ‘I don’t really see my mom as an inspiration. I mean, she’s not the reason why I’m studying journalism.
‘My dad is a cameraman, that’s how my parents met actually, whilst my uncle is in advertising and granddad worked in the television industry too. So I guess it’s in the family.
‘I had no idea what I wanted to do at uni, but my family knew a lot about journalism and the media. I also see it as fun rather than work which is important.’
‘I’ve still not decided exactly what I want to do,’ she added back in 2015.
Rosie is very close with her parents, who had her in 1994.
In an interview with Weekend magazine after Rosie moved out, Lorraine said: ‘We talk about everything under the sun.
‘I’m her mom, though, I’d never say I was her best friend because she’s got her friends already. I’d love to think she tells me everything but she doesn’t.’
