The executive committee of the Fuel Fund has chosen to raise the price of diesel by 50 satang to 30.44 baht per liter, starting tomorrow. This decision was announced by Wisak Watanasap, director of the Office of Oil Fuel Fund.
He explained that the committee also raised the subsidy for diesel by 20 satang to 4.77 baht per liter. He added that increasing the price will help to improve the financial situation of the Oil Fuel Fund, which, as of March 31, was 99.82 billion baht in debt, with 52.73 billion baht for diesel and 47.1 billion baht for LPG.
Wisak stated that the committee's decision was influenced by the fluctuations in global diesel prices due to the ongoing war in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as the recent increase in diesel prices on the world market by US$2.74 per barrel. These factors are impacting the Oil Fuel Fund's finances.
He argues that the adjustment in diesel price aligns with the global price situation and will not overly burden consumers financially.
At present, Thailand is using approximately 71 million liters of diesel per day.
