The premiere of Joe Tracini: Me and the Voice in My Head is on Thursday April 4. It follows the 35-year-old as he discusses his experience of BPD. shares his experience of BPD.
BPD is an illness related to mood and how someone interacts with others. It involves symptoms like emotional instability, disturbed thought patterns, impulsive actions, and intense but shaky relationships with others, according to the NHS.
In the documentary, the actor who played Dennis Savage introduces the audience to Mick, the voice inside his head that wants to harm him constantly.
In a video call with the 66-year-old star of The Vicar of Dibley, Joe says, 'I made a documentary for Channel 4 about my personality disorder and how I keep thinking about ending my life. But it's funny!'
Later, Dawn asks 'are you sure?' as Joe continues, 'I made it last year when I genuinely thought I was going to end my life.'
'And when I was feeling a bit better, I returned to the place where I had panicked, and I recorded whatever the voice in my head was saying at that time.'
Joe previously thanked Dawn for reading his book about mental health and giving a recommendation.
He also mentioned that as a child, he camped out in a tent in his home and watched The Vicar of Dibley non-stop for a whole summer.
Earlier, Joe also wrote a first-person article for Metro.co.uk aiming to encourage hope in those struggling with mental health.
He wrote: ‘You are definitely not hopeless. You might feel like you are, because if you’re looking for hope it means you had some but you lost it. You might have less hope now than you’ve had in the past, but you’re not hopeless.’
