Gemma Merna, who was previously in Hollyoaks, has now become a part of the Coronation Street cast.
The actress, who is 40 years old, is most famous for her role as Carmel McQueen in the Channel 4 show. The character she played died in 2014 due to a train accident and an exploding gas tank.
Now, Gemma is leaving Hollyoaks to join the cast of Coronation Street, where she will play a character named Rebecca.
Gemma made this news official by posting a picture of herself in front of the Rovers Return Pub on Instagram. In the photo, she is wearing a mint green suit and black heels that might be part of her character's wardrobe.
In the caption for her Instagram picture, Gemma proudly wrote: 'The news is out. I've been keeping a little secret. I am thrilled to announce that I've landed my dream job on @coronationstreet!

'Can you believe it?! I've wanted to be on Coronation Street since I was a little girl. Being born and bred in Manchester, it's truly a dream come true for me. It's been on my vision board for over 10 years, and finally, I got the chance to walk the cobbles. I can't even believe I'm writing this.'
She went on to say: 'I think the best part was ringing my mum and telling her. To my dad, nana, grandad, and grandma, who all watched it for many years, and were huge fans. I hope you're proud of me up there. Rebecca will be gracing your screens in the next coming weeks.'
Rebecca will be involved in a romantic storyline with the character Adam Barlow, played by Sam Robertson. She will only be in a few episodes because the story will be short.
It was recently revealed that Hollyoaks is letting go of 20 cast members after announcing a reduction in the number of weekly episodes it airs.
The Channel 4 soap, which currently airs five times a week, will decrease to three episodes per week starting in September, based on research indicating that this is the best episode schedule for modern audiences.
To adapt to this change, 135 job redundancies have been confirmed, which is around one-third of Hollyoaks' staff.
As per the latest updates, this includes 20 cast members who have reportedly been let go.
'Losing 20 cast members all at once is shocking and devastating news for soap operas,' a source claimed.
'In the past, Hollyoaks has had major events result in up to five deaths in a single episode.
'But the days of soaps creating a huge cast shake-up with a catastrophic event are long gone, especially for Hollyoaks where the budget has been significantly reduced,' the source continued to The Sun.
'The necessary death toll would make almost any event idea completely unbelievable.'
