It has been confirmed that the bones found on a well-liked beach in the north east are human remains.
The remains were found on Seaburn beach near Queen’s Parade in Sunderland on Good Friday, the beginning of the Easter long weekend.
Earlier, on February 13, more suspected human remains were found on Marine Walk, close to Roker Beach.
A representative from Northumbria Police stated that they have received reports of bones or suspected body parts being found at Seaburn and Roker beaches in Sunderland over the past few weeks. ITVThey have now confirmed that some of these are human and are currently treating the discoveries as unexplained.
They mentioned that investigations are still ongoing and it may take some time before they can provide further updates.
They also mentioned that anyone with concerns or information can report them to the police.
They advised to check back shortly for further updates.
