Celebrity Big Brother star Fern Britton is reportedly aiming to make a comeback to television with her own show.
The former This Morning legend, 66, made it to the final of the ITV reality programme, which featured Louis Walsh, Gary Goldsmith and winner David Potts.
And now she's supposedly making plans for a big return to television, having previously co-hosted This Morning with Phillip Schofield from 2002 to 2009.
An insider said: 'Fern is getting ready for her big TV comeback. She really wants to host her own talk show and is already in discussions with TV networks.
‘CBB has helped her a lot, the public forgot how much they liked her, but the show has given her a fresh start.
‘It’s widely known that she was mistreated before, which made her not want to do TV anymore, but now she feels prepared to return to the screen.
Fern has previously spoken about her rumored conflict with Schofield, who left This Morning last year after admitting to his 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a younger colleague.
Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have since become permanent hosts, after Holly Willoughby also left a few months later Schofield.
Following her sudden departure from the show, Fern didn't mention her then co-host Schofield, who later wrote in his autobiography that they had a serious fallout which caused their relationship to 'turn sour'.
She later claimed that an incident on set made her leave, and it wasn’t about a rumored pay difference.
‘There was also a persistent rumor that I left because Phillip was being paid more than me and I always say to people, “Why would I leave a show to go to nothing if I was worried about money?”,’ she said on the Ray D’Arcy Show in 2020.
She added: ‘Something happened and I thought, “That’s it really” and I walked away and resigned. I was treated pretty poorly, actually. And after a while I just thought, “Sod it”.’
Fern is now reportedly getting 'her ultimate revenge', with the source adding Bella: ‘She’s warm, caring and fun – all the things TV producers look for in a host.
‘Now that Phillip isn’t in the picture anymore, she can get her ultimate revenge and be successful on TV once again!’
While on Celebrity Big Brother, Fern fueled the feud rumors by saying she would ‘leave’ if Schofield entered.
‘I got off the train and its way over the horizon now so I honestly don’t know,’ she said, when asked by Goldsmith what she thought of the recent changes to the show.
Goldsmith – who also admitted to thinking Boris Johnson did a ‘good job’ as a Prime Minister and stated that the world is a ‘safer place’ with Donald Trump – then informed Britton that There were rumors that Schofield was going to enter the Big Brother house.
‘I might have to leave at that point,’ Fern responded.
She also said that the new presenting line-up of Shephard and Deeley represents a ‘new era’ for the show.
The former host confessed that it was sometimes ‘difficult’ to work on This Morning, but mentioned she believes it is an institution which ‘struggles but it bounces back.’
