Guglielmo Vicario is partly to blame for letting in the equalizer in Tottenham’s game against West Ham on Tuesday night.
Brennan Johnson put Spurs in the lead at the London Stadium within five minutes, but Kurt Zouma leveled the game, with the ball hitting the back of the net off the Irons captain’s back in the 19th minute.
West Ham’s goal came from a corner, and Tottenham keeper Vicario was in the wrong position to deal with Jarrod Bowen’s cross.
It’s not the first time the Italian has made a mistake in a set-piece situation that ended up costing his team, and he was scolded at half-time by TNT Sports’ pundits.
Former Chelsea and West Ham star Joe Cole said, 'Vicario goes, he’s in no man’s land and it just comes off Zouma’s back.'
‘They [Spurs] look so nervous and edgy as a unit from set pieces. When you’ve got a goalkeeper who is not comfortable with crosses, it makes you so cautious.
‘Every set piece is a problem and you’re second-guessing what you’re doing and West Ham have really taken advantage of that.’
Spurs icon Glenn Hoddle added: ‘They look so vulnerable from corners Tottenham.
‘Every time they get a corner, just a simple in-swinger and there is panic in that defense. Keeper’s got to be stronger.
‘Spurs had three corners back-to-back, didn’t look dangerous at all. West Ham looked like they could cope.’
