Twitch and Streamer xQc xQc has been removed from a popular DayZ server, and the admins told him they don't want him there.
While streamers can attract a lot of attention to certain games, having well-known people in online matches can also have some negative effects.
The most common problem is stream sniping, when players use information from a stream to get an advantage – either to target that person or to figure out where other players are.
Many competitive games now have options to deal with this issue, such as time delays in lobbies and the ability to hide the name of the server you're playing on.
Despite these efforts, it seems the popularity of Canadian streamer xQc, whose real name is Félix Lengyel, was too much for the admins of the online survival shooter DayZ.
During a live stream on Sunday, March 31, xQc was banned from a DayZ server seemingly just because he's a streamer. When the ban notice appeared on his screen, a message from the admins said: 'Thanks, but no thanks.'
As xQc wondered why he was banned, fellow streamer Greekgodx, who was playing with him, said, 'You were kicked because you're a streamer,' and then joked, 'Finally, justice is served'.
'Dude, I was just playing the video game,' xQc responded, and said that he followed the rules for streamers. 'Brother… I didn’t do anything wrong, I even hid the server, I was just playing on the server.'
In the comments of the video shared by Twitter user iqkev, some players said that the admins of the popular DayOne server, which he was kicked from, can be 'strict' with streamers who have lots of followers, because of stream sniping.
It’s not clear how long the ban will last, but xQc probably won't be in a hurry to play DayZ again.
This isn’t xQc’s first experience with video game bans. He’s been kicked from Grand Theft Auto Online servers multiple times, but that was for breaking the rules on purpose.
