The Hold Steady, a rock band from Brooklyn originally from Minneapolis, will publish a children’s book called “Stay Positive” on Oct. 1 through Akashic Books.
The book is based on the title track of the group’s 2008 album of the same name. It promotes standing strong and persevering during tough times. It tells the story of an armadillo who learns how music can bring together a diverse group of characters, according to a press release.
Mexican cartoonist and comic book author David “El Dee” Espinosa illustrated “Stay Positive.”
Lead singer Craig Finn mentioned that with time, more fans of The Hold Steady are becoming parents or grandparents. He expressed his excitement about offering a children’s book version of “Stay Positive” that can bring joy to the whole family.
The new book comes after last year’s release of “The Gospel of the Hold Steady: How a Resurrection Really Feels,” an oral history written by Michael Hann and the band.
Autographed copies of “Stay Positive,” as well as a custom water bottle and stickers, can be preordered at akashicbooks.com.
