Serial killer Lucy Letby will require more than £100,000,000 from UK taxpayers as authorities start to compensate her victims and pay for legal expenses.
The new large amount is a result of a Freedom of Information disclosure last September, which showed that her legal representatives received at least £980,133.92, as stated by the Ministry of Justice. representatives got at least £980,133.92, according to the Ministry of Justice.
An anonymous legal source stated: 'What Lucy Letby did was extremely evil on a massive scale that is very hard to understand.
‘The civil process must be just as thorough and detailed as the criminal case to ensure justice for all those affected and to prevent anything like this from happening again in the future.
‘A sum of £100million is being discussed when all aspects are taken into account. This includes compensation for the criminal victims, those claiming that she harmed their babies, the legal costs, and the public inquiry.'
The former nurse, who is Britain’s most prolific child killer, was given 14 whole-life orders for the murders and seven attempted killings.
On April 25, Letby’s case will be heard by a panel of judges at a public hearing as she appeals her multiple convictions.
The appeal was initially rejected by a judge, but she is now entitled to a full court hearing to argue for the right to appeal.
Each of Letby’s crimes occurred in the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Cheshire between June 2015 and June 2016.
Cheshire Constabulary is still examining all units where Letby worked, and stated to BBC: ‘During the review, if any medically concerning issues are identified, the relevant family would be contacted by the investigation team as part of the process.’
Letby worked as a nurse from 2012 until April 2018.
Police are also said to be investigating 4,000 other cases at the Countess of Chester hospital, as well as Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where Letby worked briefly in 2012 and 2015.
