2024 is an important year. How I Met Your Mother fans have significant reasons to pay attention this year.
Firstly, this weekend marks a whole 10 years. It's been a massive 10 years. since the last episode of the much-loved sitcom. It's widely known that aired.
the final episode caused quite a stir. with Barney Stinson and Robin Scherbatsky divorcing within minutes, the Mother, who was introduced after nine years, dying from an unnamed illness, and Ted ending up with Robin with the approval of his children. We won't delve into the over-discussed debate about the series' conclusion.
the over-discussed debate about the series' conclusion As someone who adores Swarkles, even I can now appreciate the beauty of that final scene with Ted and the blue French horn. However, it needs to be mentioned as it's not only been 10 years since Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel, and
Neil Patrick Harris sat around McLaren's bar, but there's also a much darker moment in How I Met Your Mother's history looming this year. In 2024, Ted's wife and mother to their two children, who is the reason for the entire show, passes away. Tracy, or The Mother, died during an unspecified illness in the final episode
She and Ted had two kids before her death in 2024.
Tracy, played by Cristin Milioti, is seen in a hospital bed looking frail as Ted reads to her, and then suddenly she's gone — and his kids essentially tell him 'it's been six years, move on, go after Aunt Robin.'
The teenagers then urge Ted to pursue Aunt Robin, as Tracy passed away six years ago and he needs to move forward.
Despite its brevity, fans had grown to love Tracy over the course of the ninth season, and they are shattered after realizing that 2024 is the year she dies.
'What a way to start my day,' users Kayla lamented, and user Roger expressed poetically in his tweet: 'I can't believe Tracy dies during 2024. Love is tragically beautiful, so hard to find and so easily lost.'
RIP Tracy. You never stood a chance.
User C declared 'the last 6 mins of this episode does not exist for me,' and Yosh insisted 'she didn't die in my head, she's happy with Ted, and they see Swakles every week.'
He confessed that he tries to not reveal much about the ending to let people imagine their own version of it.
‘We created two endings, and there's another one available online that I find really wonderful. So we prefer to let people pick their own ending for that one.’
Even though he really loves the show, Carter says it was ‘simple’ to agree that it was time to end it.

He clarified: ‘I had achieved all the goals I had set for myself. Working with Kyle MacLachlan, Chris Elliot, Bob Odenkirk, there are so many wonderful guest appearances on the show.
‘It could have continued for another nine years, just because it was so much fun,’ he added.
‘But in the end, we had achieved everything we wanted – there was nothing left to do but finally meet the mother.’
And then kill her. RIP Tracy.
