Six migrant workers were killed, and another was seriously hurt when a large crane fell at a factory construction site in Pluak Daeng district of Rayong province.
Following the accident at around 5pm on Friday, the surviving workers stopped rescue teams from recovering the bodies of the deceased until the company's management agreed to compensate the victims' families. They did, however, allow the injured worker to be taken to the district hospital.
Four big concrete ballast blocks also fell to the ground.
As of now, the police were still in discussions with the workers to permit recovery teams to retrieve the bodies for examination.
The reason for the accident is still being investigated.
