“To manage a salvage operation of this complexity and unprecedented nature, planning for every single moment is crucial,” Moore explained. He added that the work will be time-consuming and continuous assessment of the situation is necessary.
Moore highlighted that the conditions for rescue divers are currently “unsafe,” but they will resume their operations as soon as the situation improves.
The Baltimore bridge collapsed early Tuesday after a Singapore-flagged container ship en route to Sri Lanka struck its support following a power loss.
