Malo Gusto was unable to continue playing due to a suspected hamstring injury in Chelsea's 2-2 draw against 10-man Burnley on Saturday.
It was once again a disappointing day for Chelsea as they were equalized twice by the Clarets at Stamford Bridge.
Cole Palmer scored first from the penalty spot just before half-time after Lorenz Assignon was sent off for fouling Mykhailo Mudryk in the box.
Josh Cullen shockingly leveled the score just minutes after the break, before Palmer scored what seemed to be the winning goal late on, only for Dara O’Shea to score in the 81st minute.
Considering Burnley’s likely relegation, having only won four times this season, a home draw is a very poor outcome for the Blues and leaves the club in 11th place.
In addition, Mauricio Pochettinohas further concerns as Gusto left the pitch with a suspected hamstring injury in the 87th minute, with Alfie Gilchrist taking his place.
The right-back has been one of Chelsea’s best players this season, filling in for captain Reece James who has been mostly injured throughout the season.
Chelsea has been plagued by injury problems all season, with 10 other players currently in the treatment room, including Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana who are out for the rest of the season.
This recent subpar performance and result will only intensify the pressure on Pochettino, who has faced criticism from Chelsea’s supporters.
‘When we go forward, we create too many chances but don’t convert all of them,’ the manager stated.
‘We didn’t demonstrate the ability, the energy, the hunger, the minimum level of competition in the Premier League. That's why I'm so upset and disappointed. It's more here [points to heart] and here [points to head] than in your legs.’
