A religious teacher who was sent to jail for not following court orders is going to have a hearing because he reportedly verbally attacked a Judge.
Enoch Burke had an outburst during his recent appearance in the High Court.
He was imprisoned in 2022 for disobeying a High Court order that told him to stay away from Wilson Hospital School in County Westmeath.
The teacher was suspended after he chose not to use a student's preferred pronoun.
He was put on leave pending a disciplinary process concerning his views on transgender issues, but he ended up in prison for not following the court’s instruction.
Mr Justice Mark Sanfey was going to release Burke from prison for a while so he could think about the case – on the condition that he not go to the school. Easter However, Burke refused and started a long-winded outburst verbally attacking the court.

He will appear before the Mountjoy Prison Governor Ray Murtagh.
A Mountjoy source said: ‘Enoch is now facing a full disciplinary hearing before the Governor. He will have the right to defend himself and provide his side of the story.
‘If he is found guilty he will lose some of the prison privileges that he has been receiving such as how many phone calls he is allowed a day, how many visitors a week he can receive, how many books he can get from the library.
‘Privileges vary from prisoner to prisoner.
‘Enoch had been a model prisoner up until this incident and there was a lot of sympathy for him among the staff.’
