Helen recently opened up about being diagnosed with psychosis following a ‘really bad’ reaction to her ADHD medication.
‘I felt really not great in my head over Christmas and I didn’t really feel that much different when I took the kids away for new year,’ the actress revealed in a candid Instagram post.
‘I felt terrible, so I was due my theatre tour which I was excited about so when I came back from holiday I thought it was best for me to take some medication so I’d feel better and be able to cope better with being a working single mum of three,’ she continued, before explaining that she was ’emotionally struggling’ after her split from partner Scott Sinclair in 2022.
‘I had a really bad reaction though to the medication ( an ADHD medication) and it sent me into a psychosis for a few days which I didn’t know I was in.’
Helen went on to explain how she was ‘heartbroken’ to have to pull out of her role as Miss Scarlett in the UK tour of Cluedo 2 – which is now being played by Corrie co-star and Strictly Come Dancing winner Ellie Leach – but her main focus was to get better for her children.
She went on to explain that she is in a much happier place now, and that she had worked on herself a lot, praising therapy for helping her on her journey.
The comments of the honest post were flooded with support from friends and fans, with the actress receiving lots of messages after opening up.
Helen and Scott made the mutual decision to split in 2022 after 13 years together. The former couple share three children: Matilda, eight, Delilah, five, and two-year-old Charlie.
