Dollar Tree, once known for selling $1 items, might have to change its name due to raising its price limit to $7.
During a fourth-quarter earnings call, CEO Rick Dreiling mentioned that customers at 3,000 stores nationwide will start seeing items priced up to $7 this year.
He stated, “We plan to increase our range of items with prices from $1.50 to $7 by more than 300. Most items in Dollar Tree stores will still be priced at $1.”
Previously, the price limit was $5, while the basic price remains at $1.25.
The company also intends to mix the pricier items into the store instead of keeping them in a separate section.
Dreiling commented, “Shoppers will see $5 bags of dog food next to our usual $1.25 pet treats and toys, and our $3 candy bags will be in the candy aisle.”
