Cassandra Peterson appeared very different from her horror movie origins as she went out in LA this week.
The 72-year-old, who is most known for her work as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, looked stunning as she walked the red carpet at the First Omen premiere.
She was all smiles as she celebrated the release of the supernatural film on Tuesday, swapping those iconic jet black locks for her natural red hair.
The 80s actress wore a long-sleeved black top for the event, paired with a flowing black skirt, complete with sheer detailing.
Cassandra completed the look with chunky boots and large hoop earrings.
Throughout her career, the star has appeared in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales, Red Riding Hood, and Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.
But it was her ongoing role as horror hostess Elvira that propelled her to fame in 1981, as she introduced the character in the Movie Macabre series.
She famously wore a low-cut, tight black gown for her appearance, and was known for her self-deprecation and fun, sarcastic commentary.
Following the series, Cassandra starred in the Elvira: Mistress of the Dark movie in 1988, and returned to the role multiple times over the years – including in the 2001 follow-up film, Elvira’s Haunted Hills.
Shedding light on her success as the legendary character, she previously revealed that Brad Pitt was actually turned down for a role on the original film – because he was too attractive.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she remembered the moment the Bullet Train actor auditioned for the role, but they ended up choosing a different direction.
‘He auditioned for it and I was one of the people casting it and we decided, I said that he is just so damn cute that if he was there, there is no way I would like my boyfriend,’ she told the outlet in 2021.
‘I would be after him and he’s playing underage so it wouldn’t be a good thing, but I did write “yum yum” in the comments box. That’s the only thing that I remember.’
‘He was so cute,’ she added. ‘I mean, the guy was like 20 years old at the time.’
It wasn’t all bad news for Brad, as he got a huge Hollywood career of his own – and eventually ended up as Cassandra’s neighbor.
