There is a new trend of streamers broadcasting content focused on their rear and chest, which is now prohibited on Twitch, but fans believe it won't make a difference.
Last year, Twitch modified its policy on sexual content to put an end to a new trend where streamers would use misleading camera angles to appear naked.
This approach was effective for some time, but some streamers found a new method to sexualize their content with the recent meta, which involves using green screens to showcase content focused on their rear and chest. The streaming platform is preparing to once again enforce a ban to prevent content that ‘focuses on intimate body parts for a prolonged period of time,’ but fans doubt it will have an impact..
The most recent green screen trend has been ongoing for nearly two weeks and has become widespread, prompting Twitch to address it with a new policy change.
Twitch has announced the policy change in a Twitter post, stating:
‘Our Community Guidelines are meant to ensure Twitch remains a welcoming place for all. Twitch content is constantly evolving, and we aim to ensure our rules are effective and adapt to emerging behaviors.’
‘Effective Friday, March 29th, content that focuses on intimate body parts for an extended period of time will not be permitted.’
The specific line in Twitch’s Terms Of Service states: ‘Content that focuses on clothed intimate body parts such as the buttocks, groin, or breasts for extended periods of time.’
This means Twitch will have revised its policy on sexual content twice this year, and viewers believe streamers will simply find new ways to circumvent the rules.
‘They will come up with something new anyway. This will be an ongoing back-and-forth situation for a long time,’ said
‘Yeah. What exactly counts as prolonged? 10 seconds? Okay, then they’ll just reset the camera every 9 seconds,’ Atmozfears on Reddit.
The trend of streaming content focused on rear and chest may be ending, but it will not be the final overly sexual trend on Twitch.
