A super PAC backing Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent run for president claims to have gathered more than $2 million in funds after the candidate's official announcement of his running mate.
The primary external supporters of Kennedy’s presidential campaign, American Values 2024, received $2.1 million during a fundraiser immediately following the official declaration of tech attorney and entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan joining his 2024 ticket, as stated by PAC head Tony Lyons to The Hill.
Lyons stated that around 60 donors were present at the outside group’s cocktail party.
In a statement to The Hill, Lyons mentioned, “The attendees were clearly enthusiastic about RFK Jr’s VP choice Nicole Shanahan.” He added, “We raised $2,120,000, which demonstrates that the attendees believe that Mr. Kennedy now has a clearer path to the presidency.
“Many had previously expressed liking and trusting him but doubted his chances of winning,” continued Lyons. “With 70 percent of Americans seeking an alternative to Biden and Trump, more and more voters are beginning to comprehend Mr. Kennedy's potential as president,
The fundraiser took place shortly after the official induction of the California-based entrepreneur to the independent candidate’s ticket.
This marks the second-highest fundraising amount gathered by American Values 2024 at an event. In January, the outside group amassed $5.8 million during Kennedy’s 70th birthday celebration in West Hollywood, according to Lyons.
After announcing that they would no longer seek signatures on the candidate’s behalf for ballot access, the super PAC declared its intention to allocate “at least” $10 million for advertisements, as reported by The Hill two weeks reported ago.
The group confirmed that it had obtained enough signatures to secure the independent candidate's inclusion on the ballot in four states: Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, and South Carolina.
American Values 2024 is prepared to allocate up to $20 million for ads, contingent on the group's fundraising leading up to November.
