The father of a monarchy reform advocate, who was taken into custody last month for allegedly causing trouble to a royal motorcade, refiled his requests for bail for his daughter and her friend today, after his previous requests were turned down.
Sommai Tuatulanon applied for bail for his daughter, Tantawan, and her friend Natthanon Chaimahabutra, expressing worries about their safety as they continue their hunger strike and reject medical help, including intravenous medication and mineral supplements.
Both were moved from the Corrections Hospital to Thammasat University Hospital late last month as their conditions got worse.
Despite their deteriorating health, they remain resolute in their hunger strike in support of their political goals and Sommai expressed serious concern for his daughter and her friend’s wellbeing.
The court previously denied Sommai’s requests for bail on the basis that the hospital staff had offered them food and minerals, which they declined, and that, while in hospital, they are receiving proper treatment and are under medical observation.
