Chris Bisson hinted at what is coming up for his character Jai Sharma on Emmerdale, and it seems like it will lead to another one of the show’s famous action scenes.
He’s been having a difficult time after his father, Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel), passed away last year after falling down the stairs. Before his death, Rishi, who raised Jai, was heartbroken to learn that he was not his biological father – it was his brother Amit Sharma (Anil Goutam).
Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) initially suspects foul play in Rishi’s death.
It all started when shady businessman Amit attempted to involve Eric in a plan related to exporting antiques. Eric was initially excited to return to the world of high-end antiques trading.
However, he soon discovered that Amit was heavily in debt and had been trying to use Eric for money.
Initially, Jai doubts the theory shared by Eric, but he will learn this week that Amit was responsible for Rishi’s death, which could bring out a more ‘nasty side’.
Speaking on This Morning, Chris said: ‘When we find out how this story unravels, then bad Jay may be coming back.’
When hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley questioned him about his response: ‘He can be quite mean. He has a bit of a history.
‘I’ve locked people in shipping containers before. I’ve done all sorts before.’ Chris added that Jai left Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) for dead.
With so much happening for Jai, Chris insisted everybody needs to tune in to watch this week as it gets ‘better and better’.
‘The character is always evolving and it’s always exciting and then we get the big set pieces where the stories climax. You get the stunts and all that sort of stuff going on,’ he added.
When Cat, Ben, and soap expert Sharon Marshall picked up on the potential clue as to what was upcoming, they excitedly squealed and Chris, 48, remarked: ‘Oh no’ before laughing.
‘There might be a stunt involved. We know that Rishi was having an argument at the top of the stairs with his brother.’

It was then pointed out that Jai is the last remaining Sharma standing from the original casting. He has been part of the soap since 2009, and Chris explained the simple reason he’s stuck around.
‘The plan was three years as all these things are and then my partner got pregnant and then we had another one,’ he explained.
Chris has two children Harry and Ella Rose with partner Rowena Finn.
‘You think I’ve got kids and I love working on Emmerdale.
‘It’s great actually as work-life balance is important these days, and I know where I’m going to be filming and I know my schedule, and like today, I can get back up to school to do the Easter egg hunt with the kids.
‘It’s great and I love the show,’ he concluded.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1and ITVX.
