There is no hope of finding survivors after the 1.6-mile long Francis Scott Key Bridge broke into pieces and fell into the Patapsco River.
More than 24 hours have passed since a 289metre-long cargo ship, heading to Sri Lanka, collided with the structure in Baltimore, Maryland.
Six people are missing and now believed to be dead after the disaster in the early hours of Tuesday morning, which resulted in an unknown number of vehicles sinking in the dark water.
Emergency services were sent to the location. Helicopters were flying over the area of the river.
Only two people were rescued from the Patapsco River, with one being hospitalized in a ‘very serious condition’.
