Migrant workers from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar who wish to go back to their home countries for Songkran between April 1stst and May 15thwon't need to pay re-entry fees, announced Labour Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn.
The policy committee on the management of alien workers approved the decision to exempt migrant workers from these countries.
This exemption also applies to the family members of migrant workers holding Non L-A visas, whose permitted stay must not end before May 15.th.
Migrant workers and their dependents don't need to request re-entry permits in this case.
Those wishing to return to Thailand after May 15thshould follow the normal procedure for applying for re-entry permits if they are unsure about their return date.
In 2023, there were approximately 2.7 million documented migrant workers in Thailand, and the number of undocumented workers was estimated to be similar in size.
