NORRISTOWN — A man from Lower Frederick Township was incarcerated after he was found with drugs, including methamphetamine, during a traffic stop by state police in Salford Township.
Paul R. Weidenmoyer, 37, from the unit block of Woodside Avenue, received a 10 to 23-month jail sentence in Montgomery County Court after admitting to having intent to sell methamphetamine in connection with a March 2021 incident.
Judge Thomas M. DelRicci, who approved a plea deal in the case, said Weidenmoyer could participate in the jail’s work release program during his sentence.
Weidenmoyer also has to finish two years of probation after parole, which means he will be under court supervision for about four years.
Official documents indicate state police at Skippack pulled over a vehicle driven by Weidenmoyer on Ridge Road in Salford Township for suspected traffic violations at about 5:46 p.m. on March 20, 2021.
Police noticed a marijuana smell coming from the vehicle while questioning Weidenmoyer, and Weidenmoyer confessed to having “possibly a small amount,” according to the criminal complaint by state police Trooper John Hoy.
During a pat down search, police discovered a plastic container of suspected marijuana and a wad of cash, and Weidenmoyer confessed to having marijuana and methamphetamine in the vehicle, according to the arrest affidavit.
Weidenmoyer agreed to a search of his vehicle, and during that search, police found a black backpack with sandwich-type bags containing suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and psilocybin mushrooms, as well as a digital scale, according to court documents.
When troopers asked Weidenmoyer about the large amount of drugs and $1,600 cash, he said “that he was selling the drugs” and that he had just come from a meeting in a nearby parking lot where he sold an individual drugs, according to the arrest affidavit.
As part of the plea deal, a minor charge of possession of controlled substances was dropped against Weidenmoyer in exchange for his admitting guilt to the more serious felony drug delivery-related charge.
