Considering taking a cruise around French Polynesia with Windstar Cruises? Now, you have the option to add a stay on Marlon Brando’s private island after your cruise.
Windstar Cruises is introducing a new option in collaboration with Pacific Beachcomber, a company that manages seven hotels in French Polynesia. The Brando, an eco-resort located on the atoll of Tetiaroa with 35 private villas, white sandy beaches and a 5-mile-wide lagoon, is one of its properties.
As part of the partnership, Windstar guests can now reserve a two-night stay at The Brando after traveling on the Star Breeze, which recently took the place of Wind Spirit and increased the capacity of the small-ship line in the area.
This luxurious post-cruise addition will be open for booking from May 1, exclusively for guests staying in the top suites of the Star Breeze: the owner’s suites, as well as the Broadmoor and Sea Island suites.
Following their trip around French Polynesia with Windstar, guests will leave the ship in Papeete. Then, they will take a short flight on a small plane to The Brando. While there, they will have the opportunity to participate in daily excursions, receive spa treatments, use beach amenities, and more. Finally, they will be flown back to Papeete. Prices start at $6,900 per person based on double occupancy.
“This collaboration not only enhances our dedication to providing unmatched luxury and romantic experiences for our guests in French Polynesia, but also enables us to seamlessly extend the Windstar experience from sea to land, delivering exceptional hospitality throughout their journey,” explains Christopher Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises.
The late American actor originally bought the atoll in the 1960s. In 1999, he enlisted the help of his friend Richard Bailey, the chairman of Pacific Beachcomber, to assist in transforming the property into a resort. Together, they began designing plans for a luxurious yet environmentally friendly retreat.
Brando passed away in 2004, but his family allowed Bailey to continue pursuing the late actor’s vision. In 2014, that dream became a reality when The Brando opened to the public. Since then, it has been a popular destination for celebrities, attracting guests such as Barack and Michelle Obama, Britney Spears, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Since February, Windstar has been offering Pacific Beachcomber’s InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa in Papeete for pre- and post-cruise stays. While on their cruise, Windstar guests can also arrange a one-night stay in an overwater bungalow at Pacific Beachcomber’s Intercontinental Bora Bora Le Moana as a shore excursion.
“We are excited to invite Windstar Cruises’ guests to discover our secluded island retreats, including The Brando, an eco-resort unlike any other nestled in the heart of French Polynesia,” states Bailey. “Our goal is to fully engage our guests in the lively Polynesian culture and the unspoiled beauty of our natural surroundings.”
