The Energy Regulatory Commission has chosen to keep the fuel tariff (FT) at 39.72 satang/unit for the period of May-August, which will maintain the electricity price at an average of 4.1805 baht/unit, excluding VAT, stated ERC Secretary-General Komkrit Tantravanich today.
He mentioned that the FT for the four-month period was decided after the ERC’s Office conducted an online public hearing, starting from March 8th to 22nd, to assess the viewpoints of members of the public about the FT. 147 opinions were received.
Because electricity usage tends to rise during the dry season, Komkrit stated that it is important to increase imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in order to produce more electricity.
He also encouraged consumers to save electricity by examining their electrical devices, such as fridges and air-conditioners, to ensure they are working well, turning off household lighting when not in use, adjusting the temperature of their air-conditioners to 26oC and unplugging electrical devices when not in use.
